Biography

A practical map of
the human journey.

Short bio

Istvan Joos is a Hungarian author, guide and creator of the Three Mountains Method, a practical map of the human journey through success, happiness and meaning. His work draws on more than twenty years of practice and over a thousand life stories. He explores why the same advice can help one person and hold another back—and why finding yourself is necessary, but not the end of development.

Longer bio

Istvan Joos is a Hungarian author, guide, entrepreneur and founder based in Budapest. In his twenties, the life he had built through early business success collapsed. Writing about his wounds as a form of self-therapy opened an unexpected path into work with people.

Across twenty-one years of practice and more than a thousand life stories, he saw recurring patterns in how people move through success, self-discovery, contribution and crisis. He first published the Three Mountains map in 2015 and has continued developing it through practice.

His work asks why apparently contradictory advice can both be true at different points in a life, why the work of becoming yourself cannot be skipped, and why self-knowledge is not the end of human development. His wider Hungarian body of work includes books, courses, more than a thousand long-form videos, Humania and current work on Digital Sherpa.
